Several residential buildings, shops, and schools have been submerged after hours of heavy rainfall triggered flooding in Jalingo, Taraba State, early on Saturday.
The ensuing flood left large swathes of the state capital waterlogged, destroying property and displacing residents. Many of the affected structures, located in low-lying areas, were hit as rising water levels overwhelmed drainage channels and spread swiftly across communities.
Flooding in the region is often linked to intense rainfall and overflow from nearby waterways, which can inundate homes and businesses within a short period.
Residents are urging the government to intervene urgently, both to address the recurring floods and to provide relief for victims.
