KADUNA, NIGERIA – In a bold move to bridge the gender digital divide and foster economic independence, the Caleb Danladi Foundation (CDF) has announced plans to train 500 women in digital literacy across selected communities. This initiative forms a core part of the foundation’s activities to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD), reinforcing its long-standing commitment to empowering women and advancing girl-child education.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Capt. Caleb Danladi (PhD), disclosed this in a statement released over the weekend, marking the global celebration observed annually on March 8. He underscored the profound relevance of this year’s global theme, “Rights, Justice, and Action for All Women and Girls,” describing it as a clarion call for stakeholders to move beyond rhetoric and implement tangible change.

Capt. Danladi emphasized that the theme serves as a powerful reminder that achieving true gender equality requires not only the recognition of women’s rights but also the deliberate and concrete actions needed to ensure fairness, justice, and equal access to opportunities.

“This year’s theme is both timely and necessary,” Capt. Danladi stated. “It calls on governments, institutions, and communities to move beyond promises and take concrete steps that guarantee equal rights, justice, and opportunities for women and girls everywhere.”

Bridging the Digital Gender Gap

Central to the foundation’s IWD 2026 activities is a comprehensive digital literacy programme designed to equip 500 women with essential technological skills. According to the Foundation, this initiative is critical for enabling women to participate effectively in the rapidly evolving digital economy and to significantly improve their livelihoods.

Capt. Danladi noted that in today’s technology-driven world, digital literacy has transcended being a mere advantage to becoming a vital tool for economic empowerment and social inclusion. “Empowering women with digital skills is a critical step toward closing the gender gap in technology and ensuring that women are not left behind in the rapidly evolving digital economy,” he added.

The training curriculum will cover a broad spectrum of practical knowledge, including:

· Basic computer operation and navigation.
· Effective and safe internet usage.
· Proficiency in digital communication tools.
· Strategies for online entrepreneurship and e-commerce.
· Best practices for the safe use of digital platforms.

The programme will place particular emphasis on reaching women in underserved and rural communities, where access to such resources is often limited.

Reaffirming Commitment to Girl-Child Education

In addition to the new digital skills initiative, the Caleb Danladi Foundation reiterated its dedication to strengthening support for girl-child education. Recognizing education as one of the most powerful instruments for breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality, the foundation continues to invest in creating a level playing field for young girls.

Capt. Danladi stressed that investing in the education of girls generates a multiplier effect, creating lasting impacts that extend beyond individual families to benefit entire communities and national development. “When we educate and empower girls, we are investing in the future of our society,” he said. “Our Foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that ensure girls have access to quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.”

The Foundation used the occasion to issue a call to action for government institutions, private sector organisations, and international development partners. It urged them to collaborate more closely in creating and scaling up opportunities for women and girls through education, mentorship, and targeted capacity-building initiatives.

About the Caleb Danladi Foundation

Its programs consistently target vulnerable groups, aiming to provide sustainable solutions to social challenges and foster an environment where every individual has the tools to thrive.
