Eberechi Eze scored his first career hat-trick for Arsenal as the Gunners brushed aside Tottenham Hotspur 4–1 at the Emirates Stadium to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s Premier League title push.
Sunday’s heavyweight Premier League clash saw Arsenal claim victory over their North London rivals in the first derby meeting of the season.
Mikel Arteta’s men broke the deadlock through a fine strike from Leandro Trossard, after a perfectly weighted pass from Mikel Merino found the Belgian international inside the box to score his fourth goal against Spurs.
The second came shortly after, as a first-time pass from Declan Rice picked out Eze, who skipped past two challenges before firing a right-footed shot beyond the goalkeeper.
After the break, Arsenal’s number 10 resumed the action in style, scoring his second of the game with less than 40 seconds gone, finishing confidently from a Jurrien Timber assist to put the Gunners three goals ahead.
Spurs pulled one back in spectacular fashion, as a long ball from deep found Richarlison, who capitalised on a defensive lapse involving João Palhinha to reduce the deficit.
Arsenal sealed the victory in style as Eze completed his hat-trick on his North London Derby debut, curling a superb effort from the edge of the box following a fast-flowing move involving Trossard.
The final whistle sealed Arsenal’s dominance as they remain top of the Premier League standings, sitting six points clear of Chelsea and 11 points ahead of Liverpool following the Reds’ shock defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners now turn their attention to a crucial Champions League clash against German giants Bayern Munich before hosting Chelsea next Sunday.
Meanwhile, Spurs currently sit ninth on the table after sharing points with Manchester United before the November international break. They will next face reigning European champions PSG in the Champions League before taking on Fulham over the weekend.
