According to him, “President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has exercised his constitutional powers aimed at reengineering and boosting the job productivity of officers and men with an inherent efficient service delivery.”

President of BUMWAN recalled that DCG Adewale Adeniyi, MFR served as Customs spokesman for almost a decade from June 2003 to May 2011. However, in January 2017 he was redeployed to the Apapa Area Command, after his promotion to the rank of Comptroller and subsequently appointed Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Recall also that in 2019, he was redeployed to serve as the Controller in charge of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Command, Lagos, afterwards, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptroller General in February 2020 shortly after he supervised the seizure of $8.07 million cash being illegally taken out of Nigeria through the E-Wing of the international airport tarmac. Similarly, the National Secretary of BUMWAN, Tony Nzekwe, said the appointment of Wale Adeniyi is most and well deserved sequel to his unalloyed commitment, good conduct, integrity and high ethical standards in the discharge of his duties.

Nzekwe added that the new Customs Boss is a man who grew from the ranks with dint of hard work, steadfastness and brotherliness aimed to make pragmatic and progressive impacts, adding that his coming on board is the birth of a fast track and seamless digitally driven customs operations and administration in accordance with global best services.
