In a gathering of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jalingo, Taraba State, Governor Dr Agbu Kefas declared his commitment to delivering good governance and maintaining a clear distinction between politics and governance for the betterment of the state.
Governor Kefas expressed concern that many politicians tend to prioritize politics over fulfilling their campaign promises once elected, leading to a loss of trust among the electorate. He emphasized the need for elected officials to prioritize the welfare of the people and fulfill their commitments, as this is the key to preserving the PDP’s winning streak in Taraba.
“We will chart a new path. Our focus will be on governance that puts people first, rather than mere politics. We want the people of Taraba to have unwavering faith in the PDP,” Governor Kefas affirmed.
During the meeting, Governor Kefas also stressed the importance of party leaders returning to their respective wards to establish a consensus list of executives for the Ward and Local Government Council. This preparatory step is crucial for the upcoming state congress of the PDP, scheduled for August.
Former Minister of Finance, Amb. Idris Waziri, who was present at the meeting, disclosed that key positions within the State Working Committee had been zoned to the three zones in order to ensure fairness and inclusivity of all party stakeholders in the state.
Furthermore, Elder Nuhu Abe, the State Party Chairman, presented the guidelines and timetable for the upcoming PDP Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses, which were unanimously adopted during the meeting.
Sources revealed that a committee within the State Working Committee had submitted a report outlining the zoning of various party offices for the State Congress. The final approval of this report lies with Governor Kefas.
The meeting also confirmed that the Vice Chairmen of the North, Central, and Southern zones, who are currently serving their first term, will continue in their respective roles.”
