The elders and leaders of Southern Kaduna community have felicitated with the wife of the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung, over her inauguration as the 130th Lord Mayor of Leeds City, United Kingdom.

The leaders, under the umbrella body of Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC), praises, Mrs. Katung’s spirit of hard work, commitment and service to humanity.

In a goodwill message made available to Newsmen, Chairman of the Council, Elder Ishaya Dary Akau, says Katung’s election as the first person of African descent into that position a demonstration of the spirit of hard work, resilience, commitment and service to humanity for which the people of the region are known for.

While urging her not to disappoint the people of Nigeria in her new office, Elder Akau prayed for God’s wisdom, courage and foresight as she takes up the new position.

Similarly, the Agwam Kajju II, HRH Luka Kogi Yabuwat, in a message, congratulates Mrs. Katung for doing the Kajju nation proud with her resounding accomplishments and hoped that her reign will bring total turnaround to the people and the community she represents.

It would be recalled that in January 2024, Mrs. Abigail Marshall Katung was elected as Lord Mayor of Leeds under the Labour and Co-operative Party, succeeding AI Garthwaite.
