The aspirant for the Chikun/Kajuru House of Representatives seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Yakubu Waziri, has stated that the achievements of the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, have erased any animosity towards the ruling party and effectively ‘killed’ opposition parties in the state.
Waziri, who made this assertion in an exclusive interview with AREWA PUNCH in Kaduna, claimed that the decline in opposition parties within the state is attributable to Governor Uba Sani’s commendable performance.
It will be recalled that the Chikun/Kajuru House of Representatives member, Ekene Adams, from the Labour Party, passed away on 16 July 2024 after a brief illness while still in office.
AREWA PUNCH reports that INEC has yet to set a date for the conduct of a fresh election to replace the late House of Representatives member, Ekene Adams.
The House of Representatives hopeful asserted that prior to 2019, Chikun Local Government produced the highest votes for the opposition PDP, but today, Governor Uba Sani’s performance has altered that situation.
Governor Uba had promised to transform the state and provide good governance, and we are pleased that he is delivering credibly well.
“Governor Uba is like a hen that gathers her chicks in one place to ensure they are well-fed and safe from any form of attack.
His performance will make it easier for the ruling party in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency supplementary election,” he stated.
According to him, the former House of Representatives member, the late Ekene, had performed commendably in terms of representation, but his aspirations were cut short.
“We will build upon the foundation he laid, and our people will not regret voting for us.
“We have empowered both women and youth and graded numerous roads in communities facing road challenges.
“Our achievements are in the public domain for verification; we are not engaging in politics when it comes to alleviating the plight of our people,” he added.
He explained that Chikun/Kajuru has faced infrastructural deficits and escalating insecurity, and he promised to consolidate on Governor Uba Sani’s existing performance to address these challenges if elected.
He appealed to the people of Chikun/Kajuru to vote for leaders who will serve them with integrity and be accountable.
