The sector commander said that from her investigation, some dealers were selling motorcycles with fake and unregistered number plates.

She said that the attitude would not be tolerated and advised motorcyclists without registration to do so in order to avoid sanction.

Samuel-Mhii also said that the corps would work with traditional ruler, the state government and other stakeholders to check the use of fake number plates on motorcycles.

She said the command was planning a joint enforcement exercise with other stakeholders on fake number plates and unregistered vehicles and motorcycle in the state.

She explained that the enforcement operation would comprise of FRSC  personnel, state government officials, traditional rulers as well officials of motorcyclists and vehicle unions in the state.

On her plans as the new FRSC boss in the state, Samuel-Mhii said that part of her roadmap was to reduce road crashes to its minimum through partnership, sensitization and enforcement of traffic rules.

She noted as challenging, the influx of commercial motorcyclists from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja and other Northern states where they were banned from operating.

“The influx has led to a situation where there are a lot of commercial motorcyclists operating in the state thereby constituting threat on the highways especially in Lafia, the state capital.

“Most of the commercial motorcyclists are not registered with their unions and we will work with the unions to ensure they all register for easy regulation and control,” she said.

The commander said that she had interacted with the six different commercial motorcyclists unions and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and that they all pledged to corporate and support the FRSC towards ensuring safer roads for road users in the state.

Samuel-Mhii took over from Corps Commander Sabo Innocent-Maigari on May 6, as the 16th Sector Commander of FRSC in Nasarawa State.(NAN)
