The Federal Government has approved the release of ₦2.3 billion to clear outstanding salary and promotion arrears for Batch 8 staff in federal universities across the country.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, disclosed this in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Alausa explained that the disbursement was facilitated by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.

He added that the government was in the final stages of releasing third-party non-statutory deductions and pension remittances to the Nigerian University Pension Management Company (NUPEMCO).

According to him, the process would be concluded soon to ensure all arrears are settled without further delay.

The minister further announced that from 2026, the Federal Government would fully integrate the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) into university staff salaries to ensure timely and sustainable payments.

He also noted that additional funds had been earmarked for the Needs Assessment of Nigerian Universities, with provisions captured in the national budget to sustain the programme.
