Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation ZAFIN WUTA, have successfully carried out a security operation in the Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State to protect farmers and eliminate bandits.

This operation, designed to ensure a peaceful harvest season and a safe Christmas for residents, follows concerns raised by locals in Chanchanji about potential attacks during the harvest period.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, previously visited Chanchanji, assuring farmers of adequate protection. He emphasised, “The Nigerian Army will not permit criminal elements to disrupt farming activities or threaten the livelihoods of law-abiding citizens, especially during this critical harvest period.”

On Friday, troops arrived in Chanchanji Town and, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups, provided security for farmers travelling to Demevaa Village, approximately 19 kilometres away.

Simultaneously, troops conducted clearance operations across several villages, including Sabe, Iyongaem, and Tse-Tseve, successfully removing bandits from the area and restoring public confidence.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops also advanced into the Zambana Forest, a suspected hideout for bandits. The area was thoroughly searched and cleared, significantly disrupting the bandits’ operations.

Brigadier General Uwa reassured the residents of Takum and Taraba State that the 6 Brigade remains fully deployed and committed to securing lives, property, and farmlands throughout the harvest season and beyond.

He urged the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to help maintain peace and stability.
