The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has donated foodstuffs to victims of attacks in the Ngbrazongo community in Kwall district, the Basaa LGA, Plateau.

Benard Doro, the minister in charge of the Ministry, in company with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, presented the items to the victims on Monday in Bassa.

Bandits on May 8 attacked the Ngbrazongo community, killing some people and injuring many others.

Mr Doro, a native of the area, commiserated with those who lost their loved ones, adding that the Federal Government had put modalities in place to address the security situation in the state.

“We are here on behalf of the federal government to present these items as a form of succour to our people who were recently attacked. President Bola Tinubu is worried by the security challenges in Plateau, and he is committed to addressing them headlong,”he said

Mr Mutfwang, who commiserated with the affected persons, frowned at the resurgence of insecurity in Plateau.

The governor described the killings in the state as a pure act of terrorism, insisting that the move aimed at denying residents access to their means of livelihood.

He promised to collaborate with the federal government, particularly the security agencies, towards ending the menace.

“We are here to let you know that you are not alone; we want you to know that we are together in this. Nobody is happy over the unfortunate situation, but by the special grace of God, we will soon overcome.

“As your leaders, we are under oath to defend our land and secure our people; so, no Plateau land will be ceded to terrorists,” Mr Mutfwang said.

The governor, who commended the security agencies for securing communities, called on the youths to support their efforts to safeguard lives and property.
