Former Super Eagles legendary goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has been announced deceased.
According to Radio Nigeria, Rufai passed away on Thursday at the age of 61 after a prolonged illness that kept him away from the public eye for some time.
Meanwhile, the family has yet to make an official announcement regarding his death, but a senior official from the Lagos State Government has confirmed it.
Regarded as one of Nigeria’s greatest goalkeepers, the former Stationery Stores and Go Ahead Eagles shot-stopper had a remarkable career, earning 65 caps for the national team, including appearances in two World Cups and the triumph in the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).”
