Former Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Danjuma Akuso, has announced his candidacy for the position of State Party Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Akuso made the declaration at the Ward Party office in Kurmin Jibril and the Local Government Party office in Katugal, Kagarko Local Government Area. He later met with all eight Party Chairmen of Zone three in Kagaro.
Akuso expressed his commitment to lead the party and restore its former glory by the year 2027. He called on delegates and party leaders to trust him with the responsibility of being the State Party Chairman in order to bring about positive change and good governance in the state.
“I am running for this position to revitalize the party and reconcile with our members who have been aggrieved for various reasons. I believe I am the best candidate with the necessary experience to lead a strong opposition that will ensure victory for the PDP,” Akuso stated.
Responding to allegations of anti-party activities during the House of Representatives supplementary election in Kachia/Kagarko, Akuso dismissed the claims as baseless and lacking credibility. He emphasized that he has never engaged in any form of anti-party activities.
“If I am being accused of anti-party actions, then it means anti-party activities started in Kachia because the party lost the election there. Even in 2019 and February 2023, Kachia lost the election while Kagarko Local Government emerged victorious,” Akuso explained.
Akuso urged party members to avoid divisive politics and work towards uniting the party. He promised to provide inclusive leadership and maintain an open-door policy that would give a fair hearing to all party members.
