Kaduna State Senator, Comrade Shehu Sani, has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding protests organized by unknown individuals.
Sani emphasized the importance of being cautious when participating in demonstrations called upon by spirits, as their intentions may be unclear.
During a recent book launch in Kaduna, where Sani served as the keynote speaker, he expressed concern about the history of religious violence in the state. He highlighted the detrimental impact this violence has had on the lives of thousands of people and its contribution to the rise of terrorism in the country.
Sani lamented the division along religious lines in Kaduna, with Christians and Muslims residing in separate areas. He reminisced about a time when people of different faiths prayed together harmoniously throughout the state. Sani stressed the significance of religious leaders promoting tolerance and unity among their followers.
The former lawmaker also drew attention to the devastating consequences of bandit attacks in Southern Kaduna. He urged Nigerians to exercise their right to peaceful protest, while discouraging any form of violence during demonstrations.
Sani acknowledged that Kaduna State has become a hotbed of religious violence over the past four decades. He expressed concern that religious extremism has permeated the region, resulting in a sharp division between Christians in the South and Muslims in the North.
In his remarks, Sani commended the book titled ‘Religious Perception of Justice,’ authored by Rev. Dr. Gideon Achi. He emphasized the timeless impact of books, as they have the power to shape future generations.
Rev. Dr. Gideon Achi, the author of the book, called for a reassessment of how religion is perceived in Nigeria. He argued that both Islam and Christianity promote peaceful coexistence, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds. Achi emphasized the need to discourage the manipulation of religious sentiments and to strive for justice for all.
Senator Shehu Sani’s call for caution in participating in protests organized by unknown entities and his emphasis on religious tolerance and unity reflect his concerns for the well-being of Nigerians and the need for peaceful coexistence in Kaduna State. The book launch served as a platform to highlight these important issues and encourage a reevaluation of religious perspectives to ensure justice for all.
