The Shehu Dikko led administration of National Sports Commission NSC is poised to return the lost glory of not only all sporting activities, but the provision and maintainance of all existing facilities and erecting new ones.

This was at the backdrop of abandoned national monuments from the National Stadium in Abuja , Lagos and other major facilities constructed by the federal government, but abandoned by subsequent administrations.

But , the coming of the Shehu Dikko led National Sports Commission NSC will change the tide , as he had promised in his maiden visits to all these facilities with glaring abandonment in his planned reforms and reorganization, with a view to meeting the mandate of the current order .

In his bid to carry out the program, his intentions and administration to carry out infrastructural rejuvenation in partnership with relevant government agencies, public private partnership PPP, well placed Nigerians, organized private sector with interest in sporting activities, along with local and international agencies to drive modest sports activities in the country, that will compete favorably with the global world.

Already, few months on assumption of at the NSC, he has rolled out plans of different dimensions to ensure seamless execution of planned program that will address the awkward situation of facilities at the stadiums, complexes and structures belonging to the Commission across the country, beginning from the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, abandoned National Stadium in Lagos ,as well as Onikan stadium among others in the country.

Since stadium management involved both local and international contributions, government alone cannot fund it’s development, therefore, the need to attract corporate bodies, well to do individuals, private organizations and companies, as well as international donor agencies will be germane .

With Shehu Dikko versed and age long experience in Sports management and administration, no doubt his plans restructuring and infrastructural rejuvenation from the decaying stadiums and structures will encourage and change the trends of sports development and management.

The multi billion naira planned repairs and reorganization has already begin , with the recent victory of the Super Falcon ladies, D ‘Tigress and other sporting activities, a sign that will attract government attention, corporate bodies supports and private sector partnerships to return the lost glory of sporting facilities and activities in the country.

With new management under the Shehu Dikko led Chairman of the National Sports Commission NSC, it is obvious that sports activities will return to the good old days as a symbol of unity, development and progress of the country.

All hands must be on deck that support the new robust and people oriented administration of the new NSC leadership, capable of sustaining the current success and restoring the lost glory of sports in the country.
