Stakeholders and market leaders across Taraba State have reaffirmed their commitment to improving the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through voluntary tax compliance.

Speaking during a sensitisation walk on Thursday, they unanimously emphasised that prompt tax payment is essential for development, equipping the government to invest in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other public services.

The campaign, run in partnership with i4CUS Nigeria Limited – the state’s revenue automation consultant – unveiled Taraba’s newly deployed automated tax payment system. This end-to-end encrypted digital platform aims to boost transparency, accountability, and ease of payment, whilst curbing revenue leakages and enhancing collection efficiency.

Addressing the rally, Abama Judy Joy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of i4CUS Nigeria Limited, said the partnership with TIRS seeks to strengthen Taraba’s IGR capacity and modernise revenue administration through innovative technology aligned with international best practices.

Participants expressed readiness to embrace the new system, noting that sustainable development hinges on citizens fulfilling their civic responsibilities through voluntary tax compliance.

Launched last year, the revenue reform initiative is expected to significantly boost IGR, improve compliance, and lay a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth, enhanced service delivery, and long-term development across Taraba State.
