The immediate past deputy governor of Sokoto State and African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya (Walin Sokoto), has pledged that if elected in 2027, his administration will balance infrastructural development with people-centred policies.

Speaking while receiving ADC leaders from Sokoto’s three senatorial zones during a Sallah homage at his residence, Dan’Iya said his government would be built on transparency, consultation, accountability, and responsiveness to citizens’ needs.

“Government exists to serve the people, not the other way round,” he said. “Our administration will maintain an open-door policy with a listening ear, ensuring governance reflects the genuine priorities of the people, not just the desires of a privileged few.”

He argued that meaningful development requires government to remain connected to the populace and actively engage stakeholders in decision-making.

“In a democratic setting, the people are the government. Without their trust, support, and participation, sustainable development cannot be achieved. Leadership must be compassionate, accessible, and responsive,” Dan’Iya added.

He said Sokoto needs a leader focused on public welfare, security, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and economic development. Dan’Iya also asserted that the ADC is a viable alternative for Sokoto and Nigeria, adding that the party fields credible, responsible individuals capable of delivering good governance.

He urged party leaders and members across the three senatorial zones to remain united and focused on strengthening the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The task before us is to build a stronger, more inclusive political movement that reflects our people’s hopes and aspirations,” he said.

Earlier, ADC zonal leaders — Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela, Hon. Abubakar Sadik Sanyinna, and Hon. Kabiru Hali — congratulated Dan’Iya on Eid-el-Kabir and reaffirmed their support for the party. They pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation, praising Dan’Iya’s accessibility, humane disposition, and commitment to quality development.

According to a statement by Dan’Iya’s media aide, Aminu Abdullahi, those present included the state ADC chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Maigwandu, state executive committee members, stakeholders, and party faithful from across Sokoto.
