An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of 42-year-old Christopher Israel in a correctional facility following allegations that he raped his 22-year-old daughter.

The charges against Israel include rape and assault. Magistrate Mrs. Olubunmi Bamidele did not accept Israel’s plea due to jurisdictional constraints and directed that he be held at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti while awaiting legal counsel from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case has been adjourned until November 6 for further mention. Prosecutor Insp. Olubu Apata informed the court that the alleged incident occurred on September 21 in Ado-Ekiti. He further claimed that during the assault, Israel inflicted physical injuries on his daughter as she attempted to resist him.

The prosecutor emphasized that the actions of Israel violate Sections 265 and 256 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021, and requested the court to keep him in custody until legal advice is received from the DPP. (NAN)
