BUA Cement Nigeria Plc has graduated 60 youths from its host communities in Sokoto State following a six-month intensive training programme in heavy-duty machine operations. In a significant boost to local employment, 52 of the graduates received automatic employment offers from the company.

The initiative, part of BUA’s ongoing host community empowerment scheme, saw each of the 60 participants receive a monthly stipend of ₦150,000 throughout the training period.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, commended BUA Cement for its commitment to job creation. He urged the beneficiaries to view themselves as privileged and to contribute meaningfully to the company’s growth while serving as positive ambassadors for their families.

“The Sokoto State Government is dedicated to fostering an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, which will enable our youths and women to reach their full potential,” Governor Aliyu stated. “We will continue to encourage initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and vocational training for sustainable livelihoods.”

In his remarks, BUA’s Managing Director, Engr. Yusuf Haliru Binji, represented by the Assistant Director of Administration and Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Sada Sulieman, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to host community development.

“This event is not merely a graduation ceremony but an empowerment programme that instils hope,” said Engr. Binji. “Skills acquisition remains one of the most effective strategies for tackling unemployment, reducing poverty, and promoting economic inclusivity.”
