Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside 23 members of the State House of Assembly.
The development was confirmed on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah.
Although details of the move remain sketchy, sources hinted that Diri’s decision might not be unconnected with recent political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
