In a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesman, Chibuike Uloka, the airline said the incident occurred on Tuesday evening as Flight UN0579 touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, having departed from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.

In line with strict safety protocols, the aircraft has been removed from service to undergo comprehensive technical inspections and any required maintenance before being returned to operations.

Consequently, some flights across the network may be disrupted. “Safety remains our highest priority,” the airline stated. “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this unforeseen development may cause to our passengers’ travel plans.”

The statement noted that this is the fifth bird strike involving the airline’s aircraft since January, and each occurrence has been managed in full compliance with applicable aviation safety regulations and established operational procedures.

“We appreciate the understanding of our valued passengers and reaffirm our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational reliability,” the airline added.
