The Kaiama Development Association has commended Nigeria’s Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, and Minister of State for Works, Barr Bello Goronyo, for their clear and impactful presentation on the country’s road and bridge projects.
Yahya Hassan, the association’s public relations officer, attended a ministerial press briefing at the National Press Centre, where Umahi outlined ongoing and completed infrastructure projects.
Hassan praised the ministers for explaining complex projects in a way that was accessible to the public.
Accompanied by Goronyo, Umahi highlighted key achievements in Nigeria’s road infrastructure, showcasing the government’s efforts to improve connectivity and economic growth across the country.
However, Hassan seized the opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu, through Umahi and Goronyo, for urgent action on the Kainji/Wawa/Kaiama road, which spans Niger and Kwara states. The road, abandoned after its initial contract award, has been a source of concern for local communities.
Hassan urged the ministers to conduct an unscheduled visit to assess the road’s condition, stressing that its re-award could significantly enhance security, boost economic activities, and ease movement for residents.
The Kaiama Development Association’s appeal underscores the broader challenges of abandoned infrastructure projects in Nigeria, with communities calling for renewed government commitment to deliver on promised developments.
