Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Eric Opah, has reportedly been disqualified from participating in the party’s governorship primary scheduled for Thursday.
Sources within the APC disclosed that the party’s national leadership took the decision over issues surrounding Opah’s membership registration.
Party insiders said the Lagos-based businessman’s name was not found in the APC’s online membership database, thereby raising concerns about his eligibility for the exercise.
According to the sources, Opah’s registration was carried out manually but was not uploaded to the party’s official online registration portal.
The development, it was gathered, may affect the aspirant’s chances of contesting the governorship ticket under the ruling party in the state.
Efforts to get an official reaction from the APC leadership on the matter were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
