The Publisher of Timnews Signature Magazine, Apostle Chuks Alozie, has commended former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, for his courage, dedication to democracy and contributions to nation building.
Alozie gave the commendation in a congratulatory message to mark Kalu’s 65th birthday, describing him as an exceptional leader committed to the service of his fatherland.
He extolled Kalu’s reforms across various public offices, including as Chairman of Borno State Water Board, Chairman of Imo State Marketing and Supply Agency, member of the House of Representatives in the Third Republic, Governor of Abia State, and now a serving senator.
“Let me appreciate your commitment so far in the service of our country Nigeria. The numerous reforms you brought can be testified to by many who are part of this great journey of yours,” he said.
He added, “Your presence, despite a short time at the Green Chamber, cannot be forgotten. Your impacts as Governor of Abia State and current Senator representing Abia North cannot be overemphasised.”
Describing Kalu as a foremost statesman, Alozie said his leadership, stability and patriotism had left lasting footprints across the country.
According to him, during Kalu’s tenure as governor between 1999 and 2007, he promoted unity in Abia State and transformed key sectors, including education, sports, health and infrastructure, while boosting economic empowerment.
Alozie also commended the senator for mentoring emerging leaders within and beyond Abia State, noting that many of them had contributed significantly to the state’s development.
“Distinguished, I commend your efforts in supporting and strengthening democracy at the National Assembly. Your vocal voice on sensitive national issues is loud and clear,” he said.
He added that Kalu’s role in opposition leadership and his commitment to the rule of law had helped shape Nigeria’s democracy.
The publisher prayed for long life, good health, strength and wisdom for the senator, urging him not to relent in his pursuit of a better Abia North, Abia State and Nigeria at large.
