Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) has advanced the careers of 1,126 employees through promotions and salary step increments, reinforcing its commitment to talent retention and workforce development.

The exercise, which followed the company’s 2025 Performance Appraisal, saw 547 workers elevated to higher positions, while 579 others received salary step increments in recognition of their contributions to the organisation.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Chijioke Okwuokenye described the move as integral to AEDC’s broader transformation agenda, aimed at building a motivated workforce capable of delivering improved electricity services across its franchise areas.

He stressed that investing in employees remains central to the company’s long-term growth strategy, adding that rewarding outstanding performance is vital to sustaining innovation, productivity, and operational excellence.

“Our employees are the engine of our transformation journey. Recognising and rewarding hard work is not only about celebrating achievements but also about inspiring greater commitment, innovation and excellence across the organisation,” Okwuokenye stated.

He explained that AEDC has continued to cultivate a work environment where merit, professionalism, and continuous learning determine career progression, with employee welfare remaining a strategic management priority.

While many benefited from the latest appraisal, Okwuokenye urged those who were not promoted to remain focused, assuring them that the company’s performance management framework offers equal opportunities for future advancement through improved performance and skills development.

He said the organisation would continue to create career progression pathways while equipping staff with the tools and training needed to excel in an increasingly competitive power sector.

AEDC maintained that the latest promotions and salary adjustments demonstrate its resolve to reward excellence, retain top talent, and strengthen institutional capacity.

As the company intensifies efforts to modernise operations and enhance customer satisfaction, sustained investment in human capital will remain a key pillar of its strategy to build a high-performing, customer-oriented utility and reinforce its position as one of Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution companies.
