The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a two-day power outage across parts of the Federal Capital Territory this weekend, following a directive from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

In a statement posted on its verified X handle on Friday, AEDC confirmed that the disruption will affect Lugbe, Airport Road, Gaduwa, and surrounding areas on Saturday and Sunday.

The company explained that the outage is necessary to allow for the relocation of critical electricity infrastructure along the 33kv feeders H21, H23, and the 11kv feeder H1A in the Gaduwa district. The move, it said, is also required to facilitate road construction in the overriding public interest.

During this period, power supply to the affected zones will be temporarily suspended. AEDC assured customers that electricity would be restored immediately upon completion of the work.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding,” the company said.
