In an unexpected turn of events, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) website has faced three crashes within 48 hours, driven by a dramatic increase in traffic from Nigerians interested in membership and party details.
This surge coincided with the recent formation of an opposition coalition that includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, and other key political figures.
Announced on July 3, this alliance has generated widespread interest, with observers interpreting the website disruptions as a clear indication of the public’s yearning for political change ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.
Demola Olarewaju, Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Digital Media and Strategy, took to social media to address the issue, noting the increased demand on the ADC’s online infrastructure. “ADC website has crashed three times since the coalition was announced,” Olarewaju posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Nigerians have been waiting for an alternative to APC, and it is making its mark.”
