The Director of Strategic Communication, SBG Governorship Campaign Council, Macauley Hunohashi, has said the people of Adamawa State would count themselves lucky if Dr Salihu Bakari Girei emerges governor in 2027.

Hunohashi spoke during a telephone interview with our correspondent on Monday.

He said political observers and supporters across the state had continued to identify Girei as a leading contender in the 2027 governorship race because of his experience in education, public administration and grassroots development.

According to him, the former Commissioner for Local Government Affairs has built a reputation for effective service delivery over the years.

Hunohashi said Girei’s tenure as Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB brought reforms that improved primary education infrastructure across the state.

He said, “Dr Girei supervised the construction of classrooms, recruitment of teachers and expansion of access to schools in rural communities.”

The campaign spokesman also highlighted Girei’s experience at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, where he served in research and development leadership roles.

He added, “Dr Girei is a technocrat with the administrative capacity to attract investment and improve governance in Adamawa State.”

Hunohashi further disclosed that following the successful clearance by the APC screening committee, the campaign had intensified moves to consolidate on achievements already recorded.

He noted that plans had reached advanced stage for strategic engagements across the southern and central zones of the state ahead of the 2027 governorship contest.
