The Nigeria First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has said that Nigeria was created by God for legacy to His people through generations, in different times and seasons.
Senator Oluremi said this at the carol of nine lessons organised by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Voice of Nigeria (VON) at the National Ecumenical Centre, Central Business District, Abuja.
The first lady who was a special guest at the carol and was represented by the mandate secretary, women affairs, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mrs Adedayo Benjamin said “Nigeria was created by God and Nigerians are created for the legacy of his people through generations, in different times and seasons. We’re here this Christmas season once again to declare hope, renewed hope, true hope.”
Meanwhile, the General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM) Reverend (Dr) William Okoye, in his sermon said that Nigeria is a wonderful nation, well endowed by God from every angle; but stressed that if our leaders will embrace the fear of God, turn away form their wickedness and please God, and serve the people seriously, that it is then Nigeria will obtain help from God.
The message reads in part “Nigeria is a wonderful nation, well endowed by God from everywhere. We’re known as one, if not the most religious nation in the world but we are very ungodly. We cannot be asking for the strength of God to help us as a nation when we’re living ungodly life, wicked life, committing all manners of atrocities, breaking the heart of God.
“But when as individuals, our leaders embraced the fear of God, turn away form their wickedness and please God and serve the people seriously, that’s when we will obtain help from God as a nation.”
The first lady further said “Truly Nigerians, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, because the power of our faith is the power of glory that when we see the red sea, we must lift our eyes and see the power of Jesus who walked on water to bring us through.
“May this Christmas season, 2025, crossing over into an amazing year of new strength, 2026 revive our confidence in God’s plan for Nigeria, because God is in the storm with us and he has given us the power of our Christ to come through whatever is an individual or collective crisis and challenge. The victory of our faith is the victory of our nation.
“Therefore let us not enter the coming year in fear but in faith, not with anxiety but with the blessed assurance that God who crowns the year with goodness will also lead us into glory. Nigeria as a nation will be sustained.
Furthermore, Reverend Okoye added in his sermon “The Bible says it’s not the will of God that people should perish but that all should come to repentance. That’s why he sent Jesus to save us from our sins. And Jesus cannot save us from our sins as a nation, as group of people. He deals with us as individuals.
“So if we really desire the strength of God to conquer the present situation we found ourselves now, we must first and foremost repent of our sins and tell Jesus to come into our heart by the help of the Holy Spirit, forgive our sins, wash us clean by the blood of Jesus and give us strength to love and serve God for the rest of our lives.
“In order to sustain that strength of God in our lives, we must read, study and meditate on God’s word in our life and pray daily.
The clergyman added that when we made God our refuge and strength, we’ll have nothing to worry about.
The carol saw renditions from various musical groups, with a particular melodious performance from a group of children from The Eagles Music Academy, comprising of young orchestra and singers, whose performance was electrifying. The young lads display musical skills, hard work, tenacity and commitments; and their performance pep up the event.
