The delegation of United States lawmakers has met with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to discuss the country’s security challenges, particularly terrorism in the North-East and ongoing killings in the Middle Belt.

United States Congressman Riley Moore, part of the delegation, said that there is still much work to be done to address the security challenges facing the country.

Moore stated that the discussions were detailed and focused on concrete steps that could improve the situation if fully implemented.

The congressman further highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between Nigerian authorities and international partners to tackle terrorism effectively.

During the meeting, the US delegation and Nigerian officials examined specific actions to counter insurgent groups in the North-East.

The delegation also discussed strategies to curb the rising violence in the Middle Belt, where targeted killings have raised concerns.

Moore indicated that the delegation’s concerns are shared by President Donald Trump, reflecting the level of attention the United States is giving to the security situation in Nigeria.

The discussions aimed to identify actionable solutions, strengthen intelligence-sharing, and ensure that collaborative efforts could disrupt and dismantle terrorist networks effectively.

“There were concrete steps and actions discussed at length, that if fully executed, I believe will enhance security across the country for all Nigerians, disrupt and destroy terrorist organisations in the northeast and stop the killing of Christians (a specific concern for @POTUS and me) – particularly in the Middle Belt of the country.” He said.
