Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 46 trainees of the SKAID Trade and Skill Acquisition Programme on Friday in Ungwan Wakili, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Provost of the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, Malam Hussaini Haruna Muhammad, said the initiative aligns with the administration’s vision to equip young people with practical skills.

“If you build the capacity of the people and give them the requisite skills, they will be the ones to build the city,” he said. “Investing in human capital remains the most sustainable way to safeguard and advance all other areas of development.”

The governor’s representative praised the collaboration between the government, SKAID Foundation, traditional institutions, donors, and development partners, noting that such partnerships were critical to fostering entrepreneurship and economic independence in Southern Kaduna.

The Chairman of SKAID Foundation, Rear Admiral Ferguson Bobai (rtd), congratulated the graduates, urging them to be resilient, innovative, and socially responsible as they enter the workforce or start their businesses.

“You have devoted yourselves to hard work, perseverance and education in acquiring valuable skills that open doors to economic independence. The challenges are many, but so are the opportunities. Your success will inspire others,” Bobai told the graduands.

The 46 graduates, trained in beauty care, welding and fabrication, electrical repairs, and solar installation, each received starter kits to kickstart their careers. These included welding machines, toolboxes, makeup kits, safety equipment, and other professional tools.

SKAID said the training, supported by the Maryamu and Yakubu Skill Development Foundation, was aimed at equipping youth with the means to transform their communities while building sustainable livelihoods.
