The Taraba state Commissioner for cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Habu James Philip on Thursday called on the Internally displaced persons (IDP), of Tiv extraction to embrace dialogue rather than social media attacks on the state government to facilitate their safe return to ancestral homes.

The commissioner also condemned the recent social media publication authored by one Peter Achibo, call on the public to disregard the publication as it does not defined the true position of the displaced Tiv persons.

The commissioner while interacting with journalists in Jalingo, informed that the Tiv’s were behind governor Agbu Kefas’ peace moves that have so far attracted harmonious coexistence among ethnic, and the efforts to return the displaced to their ancestral homes.”I wish to call on my people, (the Tiv’s) to desist from social media attacks that may discourage the government from the peace moves and efforts to return the displaced persons to their ancestral homes.

“I want them to embrace dialogue rather than social media attacks on the government. The recent social media publication by Mr. Peter Achibo concerning the return of IDP in Wukari LGA is condemnable. I want the general public to disregard the publication as it does not represent the true position of the displaced Tiv people.

“I wish to inform the general public that the entire Tiv people are behind governor Agbu Kefas’ peace moves and efforts to return the displaced persons to their ancestral homes. Just recently, the Tor Tiv was here and fruitful discussions were made between him, the Aku Uka, governor Kefas and other relevant stakeholders on the need to ensure the return of the displaced Tiv people, and the harmonious coexistence between ethnics in the Taraba.

“The publication by mr. Achibo does not only speak violence but a trap to distabilise the peace being enjoyed under Kefas administration” the commissioner expressed.
