Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra, has accused the government of President Bola Tinubu of being the root cause of the Labour Party’s ongoing crises. Speaking with Arise TV on Monday, Obi cited the behaviour of Labour Party chairman Julius Abure as evidence of the party’s internal discord.

When asked about his failure to resolve the party’s issues, Obi attributed the Labour Party’s struggles to the influence of the current government. “This is the state of Nigeria today—a realm of propaganda and deception. The problems we face are instigated by our leaders,” he declared.

In response to inquiries for supporting evidence regarding his claims against Tinubu’s government, Obi pointed to Abure’s derogatory comment towards Abia State Governor Alex Otti, whom he referred to as a “dwarf.” “I should not have to explain further. When a party chairman resorts to such name-calling, it undermines our collective strength,” Obi stated.

He further remarked, “We are engulfed in a culture of lies that spreads discord even among families. I have established thriving businesses both locally and internationally, and I left them in good standing. My respect is well-deserved.”

As the battle for leadership within the Labour Party escalates, Abure and Otti have recently exchanged sharp criticisms.
