The Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has announced that the federal government is advancing in its efforts to restore the Ajaokuta steel company in Kogi State.

Audu shared this update during a recent gathering with All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders at his home in Ogbonicha, where he confirmed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to facilitate the revival.

Additionally, he mentioned the government’s outreach for private investors from China to support the steel plant, marking a significant step towards its revitalisation.

“We are making commendable progress. The journey has begun, and we aim to deliver results for Ajaokuta promptly,” Audu stated.

He emphasised that this initiative is part of the ambitious reforms instituted by President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the last two years, focusing on economic growth through steel development.

The minister reiterated the President’s determination to confront Nigeria’s urgent challenges, enhance citizens’ welfare, and ensure that the dividends of democracy are realised nationwide.

He pointed to the positive effects of the “Renewed Hope” agenda, including a notable decrease in the prices of staple foods.

“In just two years, Mr. President has shown significant political will and commitment to transforming Nigeria. State FAAC allocations have increased remarkably, benefiting Kogi State directly,” Audu remarked.

In his address, Mr. Joshua Onoja, the State Secretary of the APC, commended the Minister for hosting the meeting and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s re-election, highlighting the unity of the Kogi APC.
