The Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement BPP, Dr Adebowale Adedokun said professionalism and digitization along with academic development that will transform procurement process in Nigeria will be prioritised.
Dr Adebowale bare his mind during the stakeholders retreat that attracted 36 states of the federation, FCT and the private sector held at National University Commission NUC premises Abuja on Thursday.
He maintained that the need to revolutionse the procurement process in Nigeria through deployment of both professional and academic prowess remained a corrolary to sane procurement process and development.
While regretting the continuous adoption of rudimentary practices of procurement process, he asserted that the mandate of the new management of BPP under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was to overhaul and inject a new process into the process.
He commended the six academic institutions charged with the training of new crops of procurement officers professionally and academically , will attract more proficiency.
The one day program powered by the World Bank, BPP and Sustainable Procurement Environment and Social Development SPESSE was geared towards promoting quality presentation of procurement officers and process that will stand the taste of time .
He promised that the first set of graduates in SPESSE will debut in January, 2025 which will form the crux and foundation of the needed revolution in BPP.
He said the ongoing reforms in BPP will transform the provision of infrastructure, energy and among many other procurement act and process in government Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as the private sector
Highlights of the occasion included the presentation of papers by the DG BPP, Dr Adebowale Adedokun and other stakeholders at the program.
