Resource persons at the two day workshop on sciencetific writing for grants and academic articles in sybersecurity and data science research, have advocated the need for postgraduate studies to use the opportunity to increase their research skills.

They made the advocacy during the workshop organized by the center for cyberspace studies Nasarawa state University Keffi, held at ICT center of the institution.

Adenomon Monday Osagie, is the director of center for cyberspace studies, Nasarawa state University Keffi, said the participants at a workshop were postgraduate students from the center and within the university community.

According to him, the workshop was organized mainly to teach students on how to write good proposals to win grants from international organizations, calling on the students to be proactive in their responsibilities of making useful research through the knowledge gained from the workshop.

The event featured the presentation in the areas of scientific writing structure, literature review and research Gap identification, research methodology in computing and data science, ethical considerations in scientific writing, presentation and communication skills as well as Grant proposal writing all geared towards equiping the postgraduate students to be updated with current realities.

Dr. Olatunji, who made a presentation on communication skills, harped on the need for students to prepare well before embarking on any presentation, this he said will make them succeed in their academics research.

“We are talking about communication skills, while making a presentation, the audience need to be fully carry along make them understand what you are doing. So it is necessary for someone to understand the kind of information you are passing across to him.

According to him, as a student in the university, presentation is necessary, hence the need for students to pay rapt attention to enable them understand the direction of the workshop.

While Dr. Kilvert who made his presentation on literature review and gab identification, opined that it is critical in any research work because issues must be identified based on literature review, and advised students to work towards Ensuring they acquired knowledge on how to develop their research work through literature review.

Stephen Bassey, is a prof. Of Cybersecurity and information security technology, said the workshop was to keep the students updated based on contemporary changes in the world particularly the technological advancement.

A PhD student in an interview, appreciated the organizers of the event for their initiative towards impacting students with knowledge and promised to dedicate himself for achieve success.
