The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, flagged off the construction of the access road from Ring Road 1 to the Judges’ Quarters in Katampe District, Abuja, on Tuesday.

The project also includes the development of internal roads within the Judges’ Quarters.

In his address, Hon. Kalu emphasized the importance of infrastructure in fostering economic growth and development, acknowledging the Tinubu administration’s efforts to address the infrastructure deficit.

He commended the leadership of the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, for his rapid initiation of projects since assuming office, pledging the National Assembly’s continued support for these efforts.

Wike highlighted the ongoing efforts in road rehabilitation and urban renewal, stressing that these projects are part of a broader vision to make Abuja a world-class city.

He announced that the access road to the Judges’ Quarters, along with other internal roads, will be completed by May 2025, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

Wike further assured adequate funding for the project, stating that 70% of the budget was already secured.

Additionally, he announced plans to address the growing problem of beggars in Abuja, describing it as a security concern.

Senator David Jimkuta and Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara both praised Wike’s development strides, reaffirming the National Assembly’s support for FCT projects.

The contractor, China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGCOC), assured the timely and high-quality completion of the 2.4 km road, expected to ease traffic and reduce accidents in the Katampe District.
