The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) reaffirmed its previous statement on Sunday night that Dangote Refinery Petrol was sold to them at N898 per liter.

Earlier, Dangote Group, in a statement by its spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, did not disclose the exact price at which they sold to NNPCL Ltd. This indicated that the Refinery was reluctant to provide a clear answer on the pricing matter.

NNPCL Ltd.’s spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, addressed the issue after Dangote Refinery issued a statement denying the disclosed price and calling it misleading.

In a conversation with journalists, Mr. Soneye stated, “We maintain our previous position that Dangote Refinery Petrol is sold to us at N898 per liter.

“We have supporting documentation to substantiate our claim. If the price is not N898, what is it? We would welcome a discount.

” Throughout the day, various figures have been circulating—some claiming N1,300, The Punch reported around N767, and another outlet mentioned N500.

“It is our responsibility to clarify the facts. The truth is, the government is not setting fuel prices, nor is NNPCL Ltd. It’s a deregulated market where prices are determined by market forces.”
