The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has rebutted an allegation against the Nigeria Police Force regarding an alleged cover-up of corruption and abuse of office petition brought before it.

Mr Muhammed Sale, the Assistant National Publicity Secretary of PCRC, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

He described the allegation against the Nigeria Police by a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of PCRC, published in an online platform, as fictitious and frivolous.

Saleh stated that the sponsor of the publication within PCRC was intentionally bent on destroying a house built by highly dedicated patriots in the past and present.

He claimed that the sponsor had embarked on unsubstantiated and frivolous claims of financial misappropriations by the leadership of PCRC.

According to him, all financial transactions in PCRC receive majority approval for both planned and emergency engagements.

“The attention of the NWC of PCRC has been drawn to a sponsored online publication with fictitious and frivolous claims.

“The sponsor of the publication has continued to constitute and conduct herself with a very few minority in the NWC as elements of stagnation, retrogression, and bitterness.

“This was because she was not granted her desired wish of becoming the Coordinator of the PCRC National Women Committee at over 70 years of age,” he said.

Saleh stated that the sponsor of the publication had made several attempts to stop the progress being recorded in PCRC under the current NWC led by the National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan.

According to him, it is on record that she has on several occasions tried to divide the NWC but failed woefully for reasons which they now suspect have ethnic and political undertones.

Saleh said PCRC had never in history bridged the wide gap between the police and the community like the current NWC of PCRC, especially in the South East.

He said that in spite of her failures with many unsubstantiated claims through series of petitions being investigated, the sponsor of the publication had made many failed attempts to induce most members of NWC.

“We implore well-meaning members of the public and indeed all executives and members of PCRC nationwide to disregard in totality this latest move by the known enemy within the ranks of PCRC.

“Her cohorts to draw back the unstoppable progress currently being witnessed through hard work, commitment, and dedication of highly progressive officials spread all over the country.

“With necessary legal advice and wide consultations, the NWC will take appropriate steps as deemed necessary,” he said.(NAN
