The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has called upon the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to refrain from making unilateral decisions on matters of mutual interest between the two organisations.

According to a TUC insider, it is inappropriate for the NLC to announce a two-day national protest without prior consultation, especially after jointly issuing a 14-day ultimatum on the same issue.

In a letter obtained by sources, the TUC expressed dismay over the NLC’s recent decision to unilaterally declare a two-day national protest without consensus.

The TUC highlighted the necessity for both organisations to review situations jointly and agree on the way forward before convening their respective NEC meetings.

The TUC stressed the importance of making decisions collectively to ensure the interests and perspectives of all parties involved are duly considered.

The TUC recalled previous instances of collaboration between the two organisations and emphasized the need to maintain synergy and cooperation.

In order to uphold the integrity of their partnership, the TUC urged the NLC to engage in meaningful consultation and dialogue moving forward.

Both organisations were encouraged to reaffirm their commitment to working together for the betterment of workers’ rights and welfare.
