The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration has urgently appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for support in addressing the escalating incidents of land grabbing and unauthorized construction within the capital city.

The Director of the Department of Development Control of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Mukhtar Usman Galadima, along with a delegation of senior officials, visited the EFCC’s corporate headquarters in Abuja to seek collaboration in combating the growing syndicate involved in land grabbing activities.

Galadima emphasized the need for joint efforts, acknowledging the complexity of the situation and the inadequacy of their department alone to effectively counteract the organized criminal activities associated with land grabbing.

In response, EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, conveyed the Commission’s unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges raised by the FCT administration. He assured the delegation of the Commission’s readiness to leverage its mandate to tackle the prevalent issues of forgery of land documents and impersonation of original allottees.

EFCC’s Director of Operations, Abdulkarim Chukkol, underscored the importance of intelligence sharing to enable the Commission to take decisive actions against perpetrators of real estate fraud in the city.

He reiterated the Commission’s openness to collaboration and intervention from the FCT authorities.
