Lateef Lawal, the husband of the Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin, is embroiled in an alleged “land grabbing” dispute.

TheCable obtained court files listing Lawal among individuals sued for demolishing structures on a property owned by one Faith Ojo.

Ojo, in the lawsuit, is identified as a Nigerian businesswoman based in the United States.

The land with plan no “AGA/2582/037J/2020/LA”, the claimant revealed, is located in Okun-Ajah, Eti-Osa Lagos.

Among the defendants are Rasheed Olukosi, Muniru Olukosi, Saheed Olukosi, Kareem Wasiu Jagun, Sulaimon Bolaji, Muritala Musbau, and Kehinde Jagun.

They were accused alongside Lateef of demolishing some structures on the land in what Ojo has described as “land grabbing” in her suit.

Sources familiar with the matter tell TheCable that the police have been probing cases of “land grabbing” involving the defendants.

The claimant said the activities of the defendants on the said land caused damages and amounted to a trespass.

Ojo sought N30 million as compensation and asked that the defendants cover both the cost of litigation and petitioning the police.

She sought a “perpetual injunction” against the defendants “from entering, developing, and occupying” the two-plot land.

The case against Lawal is becoming public knowledge just as reports are purporting that he escaped arrest in Ikoyi on February 5.

It also comes days after it was alleged that Lizzy Anjorin, his actress wife, made a fake mobile banking transfer in a Lagos store.

The transaction, it was reported, happened after she purchased goods worth N91,000 from a store inside a Lagos market.

The actress, however, has denied the allegations and argued that the video was a “setup” targeted against her person.

Lateef Lawal, as of when this report was filed, has yet to publicly comment on the land dispute and associated controversies.
