The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), on Wednesday, called on President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the establishment of a centralized command structure within the security forces.

The coalition said that the government should clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each arm, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration.

The National Coordinator of CNG, Comr. Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, stated this in Abuja, during a press briefing, called for a thorough investigation to ascertain what led to the massacre.

CNG condemns the killings of innocent civilians in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

They also recall that over 90 villagers of Tudun Biri in Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State were killed when a drone of the Nigerian Army bombed a gathering of residents who were celebrating Maulud Sunday night.

Residents said the incident also left over 60 people injured. The military had since owned up to the bombing, but failed to give more details.

Charanchi said: “We call on the government to invest in modern communication systems that enable real-time information sharing and enhance interagency cooperation.

“The CNG calls for a comprehensive, transparent, independent investigation into the Kaduna incident to ensure that all those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

“To prevent the repetition of history, where reports on sensitive issues are consigned to dusty files in government offices, we demand an independent investigation led by credible elders and reputable community leaders.

“In years, numerous reports on sensitive issues have been commissioned by the federal government, only to be left forgotten and gathering dust in the archives of history.

“The CNG demands adequate compensation for the victims of the Kaduna killings not only as a means of providing financial support to the affected families but also as a gesture of acknowledgment and empathy.”
