Acting Comptroller of the Unit, Hussein Ejibunu, unveiled these remarkable seizures during a press briefing held at the Unit’s Headquarters in Lagos.

Ejibunu, while showcasing the seizures, provided insight into the diligent efforts of his team.

He highlighted that the 17 vehicles had been apprehended from smugglers attempting to skirt the law, emphasizing the resolute stance of the Federal Operation Unit Zone ‘A’ in making the remainder of the year even more challenging for smugglers, all in the best interest of the country.

Aside from the substantial rice interception, the Customs Unit made further seizures during this period.

These included 14,825 litres of premium motor spirit, 657 pieces of used tyres, 202kg of cannabis sativa, 39 bales of second-hand clothing, 100 packs of tomato ketchup, four units of used motorcycles, 100 cartons of used soaps, and 730 sacks of hides & skin.

The diversity of the seizures underscores the comprehensive nature of the operation.

Acting Comptroller Ejibunu didn’t stop at the seizures but also highlighted the arrest of nine suspects in connection with these anti-smuggling operations.
