As Nigeria continues to navigate the complex terrain of post-election politics, a significant event took place when Goodluck Jonathan, the former President of Nigeria, paid a visit to Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock.

This rendezvous held a day after the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Tinubu’s victory in the February 2023 presidential election.

While the specifics of the meeting were held behind closed doors, Jonathan, in an interview with State House Correspondents, shared his perspective on Nigeria’s position in Africa’s leadership landscape.

Jonathan made it clear that the election season was over, and the nation needed to push forward.

He acknowledged that Nigeria was currently facing economic challenges.

However, his unwavering belief in the country’s potential to lead Africa shone through.

“Yes, we have challenges economically now, but we still have what it takes to lead Africa,” Jonathan affirmed.

The former president didn’t just stop at expressing his optimism for Nigeria’s role in Africa; he went on to highlight his active involvement in regional affairs.

He revealed his upcoming plans to visit Kenya on Saturday and Liberia on November 14.

He explained his role as a roving ambassador working tirelessly to promote peace in the sub-region and the entire continent.

Jonathan’s commitment to fostering harmony and stability in West Africa and Africa at large is undeniable.
