The FCTA Economic Planning, Research, and Statistics Department conference hall was filled with the cream of different departments as Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Wanki took over as the new director of treasury from Alhaji Zanna A Hamza, the former director who retired after reaching the age of sixty in service.
The handover, which took place at the conference hall of the Economic Planning, Research, and Statistics Department in Area 11, Abuja, had in attendance the Director of Funds and Revenue FCTA, Director of Budget and Treasury, Director of Administration and Finance at the Agric Secretariat, Director of Administration and Finance at the Transportation Secretariat, Director of Audit FCTA, Director of Monitoring and Inspection FCTA, Acting Chairman of FCT Internal Revenue Service, as well as staff of the Treasury Department.
Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Wanki was the most senior professional director in the department before his appointment.
The Treasury Department of the Federal Capital Territory Administration serves as the monetary powerhouse of the administration, as it controls all internal and external finances, including revenues generated for the FCT.
At this moment, with Wike as Minister, who believes in accountability, the department has gained the right type of director in Wanki. Many colleagues who spoke under condition of anonymity attested to his dexterity, integrity, professionalism, and enterprising spirit.
Having served as the Director of Finance and Administration in the Treasury Department before his appointment, his tenure as DAF of the department witnessed prudence, fairness, open-door administration, and resource management. Many staff members commended his selection as the new Treasury Director and promised to work with him.
The outgoing Director Zanna Hamza implored all staff of the Treasury Department to cooperate and work with the new director in advancing the department.
Meanwhile, the new director praised the former director and promised to always rely on his wealth of knowledge in the course of his job when the need arises.
