The primary objective of the summit is to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) and African leaders.

This collaborative effort seeks to harness the potential for economic growth and development across the continent.

South Africa’s BRICS Sherpa, Anil Sooklal, announced during a media briefing on Thursday that all African leaders had been invited to participate in the BRICS outreach.

He said “The summit will provide a platform for discussions on how the BRICS countries can forge partnerships with Africa, enabling mutual benefits and shared prosperity.

President Ramaphosa plans to host a dinner for the BRICS leaders, which will also be attended by the invited African leaders.

This gathering will facilitate engaging conversations and lay the groundwork for future cooperation.

The guest list includes not only leaders from the African Union and regional economic communities but also prominent business leaders who play a crucial role in driving economic growth and development in Africa.

South Africa assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2023, succeeding China.

“This summit signifies South Africa’s commitment to leveraging its position to foster closer ties between the BRICS nations and the African continent.
