Prof. Ishaya Dauda, the Returning Officer, who announced the result in Kafanchan on Sunday, said the PDP candidate polled 26, 640 votes, to defeat his closest rival, Mr Sambo Maigari of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 22, 371 votes.

According to him, “A total of 56, 472 voters were accredited out of the 173, 846 registered voters in the constituency.”

The returning officer said only 56,074 electorates cast their votes.

Fielding question from newsmen in Kafachan shortly after the announcement, Hon. Ali Kalat assured his constituents of a robust representation that’ll entrench true democratic dividends.

He described the conduct and the process of the election that returned him elected as credible, fair and peaceful.

” The people should expect more, because the PDP will form the majority in the House and that’ll attract more Constituency projects.” Kalat maintained.
