The Labour Party governorship campaign train of Hon. Jonathan Asake and Bashir Aliyu in Kaduna state was in Kaduna north and south local governments at the weekend to engage the electorate on the importance of voting the LP come February 25th and March 11.

The campaign rally and tour, which was held as a carnival of sort, took the two LGAs by storm. For the first time the electorate saw a different style of campaign that penetrated the nooks and crannies of communities, coming directly in contact with the people – instead of the old-school, stadium-style rally.

The campaign carnival took off from Barnawa through Ahmadu Bello Way to Kawo, Ungwan Dosa, Malali and Ungwan Rimi, then Kigo new extension to Sarduana crescent. The train then headed to Tudun Nupawa and drove round Tudun Wada to Kurmin Mashi, Badiko, Kabala West, Ungwan Muazu and through the western bypass to Kakuri.

It was an 8-hour, non-stop campaign drive that attracted many voters who unilaterally joined and keyed into it, dancing irresistibly to the rythm of the LP music that filled the air.

The young and the old, women and children, persons with disability, students, artisans, commercial drivers, civil servants, businessmen/women, professionals, etc. who witnessed the campaign carnival expressed confidence in the LP as the only party that can salvage Kaduna and Nigeria from economic stagnation.

Chairman of the campaign council and national secretary of the LP, Alh. Umar Faruk Ibrahim, the DG, Hon. Tsahiru Bako, the state party chairman, Hon. Auwal Tafoki, the Guber candidate, Hon. Jonathan Asake and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Bashir Aliyu Zangon Aya, the senatorial candidate for Kaduna central, Hon. M.S. Ibrahim all graced the campaign rally/tour.

Others included the house of assembly and house of representatives candidates in the two LGAs, their local government party chairmen, wards chairmen, local government campaign coordinators, various members of the campaign team as well as well-wishers.
