Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has hailed the appointment of former Zamfara Governor Abdul’aziz Yari as Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s Campaign Council, describing it as a landmark recognition for the state.
Mr Matawalle’s political movement conveyed the commendation in a statement issued on Saturday in Gusau by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
Mr Yari, who currently represents Zamfara West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, will spearhead the President’s re-election campaign machinery alongside other prominent indigenes of the state.
“We express appreciation to President Tinubu for appointing Yari as Director-General of the Campaign Council,” the statement read.
The appointments further position Zamfara prominently within the President’s political structure. Mr Matawalle has been named Deputy Director of Security and Intelligence, while Governor Dauda Lawal has been appointed to the Stakeholders Mobilisation Committee.
Former Zamfara governors Ahmad Sani-Yerima and Mahmud Shinkafi have also been nominated to serve on the campaign council.
“This significant consideration has further placed Zamfara in an enviable position,” the statement added.
The movement extended its congratulations to all appointees, expressing confidence in their capacity to galvanise support and deliver victory for President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming elections.
